Peru

The most extensive collection of archaeological excavations in South America, Machu Picchu seems people `s vision of Peru. Whether you hike the Inca Trail or take the train from Cusco, you will never forget your first sight of the mist and myth shrouded Inca city. Legacy of the Incas is always present today `s Peruvian society. In contrast to the rugged Andes mountains, scattered large areas of the jungle their green carpets across the country. In fact, home to a wide diversity of plants and wildlife, including Peru 84 of the 104 defined zones life on earth. Everyone who visits Peru inevitably going to Cusco, one of the most fascinating cities worldwide.

It is important to note all flights operating from Lima, who also serves as a gateway to the southern tourist regions. Arequipa is the basis for the hypnotic Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca, and the Tambopata National Park to explore. From Lake Titicaca is also possible to cross into Bolivia and down to Chile an interesting journey over land. No matter where you venture in Peru, get ready for a once in a lifetime adventure, and perhaps life-changing experience.

We had planned a trip to Ecuador, to include Galapagos, but didn't think we could, at this time, afford to add on a trip to Peru. We were wrong, Brian of Due South sorted our whole trip. Transfers went smoothly, hotels were super, guides knowledgable, and overall experience a real treat. We owe it all to Due South and would like to say a huge THANK YOU for all the efficiency of planning, information, and sorting out a holiday of a lifetime for us.

Peru "leg" of our holiday.

Brian organised a complete holiday for us that "took in" Peru, Boliva, Argentina and Brazil. Everything was organised swiftly and competently, options offered and decisions made quickly - nothing was too much trouble and I can not recommend him highly enough. In Peru we were met by Maria who took care of us during our time there. The guides were excellent and added to the experience. I am tall, and on the coach trip from Cusco to Puno Maria made sure I had a seat with extra leg room - appreciated. A great holiday.

With a delay of 24hours due to fog at lima, Lan airways were excelent in finding accomadation, food and giving information.
In Peru we were met at every arrival point and were given an itinary and transport to a hotel. We had a excelent guide and driver in Lima and this was the case wherever we went in Peru.
Hotels suited are budget were clean, with friendly service and a excelent breakfast. There were a lot of early starts and only the hotel in Lima was negative about breakfast before 6.00 and even suggested I buy a breakfast. There were others that scrabbled around trying to make a quick breakfast before having to leave.
I found it reassurring that evey couple of days I got a telephone call asking me about the service of the guide, driver and hotel.
For future vistors an idea of tips,if that is the culture would be helpful, this should not be used to reduce wages but should be an extra from a satisfied customer.

I had wanted to go to Peru since I was 18 (now 57) and we finally got there last year. Brian, from Due South, organised the whole thing for us and it was the most wonderful two weeks. It was impeccably organised, the local support was brilliant, transport good, hotels A1, and everything went without a hitch. Brian recommended that we go to the Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca, which was stunning. Highlights? Too many to mention but just for starters, try: Sacsayhuaman, looking out over Lake Titicaca from Sun Island, standing in the observation car of the train through the mountains sipping pisco sour, watching the dancing competition in Cusco's main square, and your first glimpse of Machu Picchu as you come up through the trees and it's spread out before you. I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Dealt directly with Brian and trip was very well organised. He went out of his way to organise it and help me out as much as possible. Guides were fantastic out there, and always gave us maps and told us what sights we could go visit at the end of the tours by ourselves. Hotels were organised to be "close" to most sights/town centre so we could do our own sight seeing very easily.
Train trip was cancelled due to strikes but was on/off till the last minute. Guides gave us updates on that everyday and then 1-2 days before our train trip confirmed cancellation and for a nominal fee organised a car with a private guide to take us on the same journey as the train.
Highly recommended in every single way from step 1.
