chile

Chile is a 4300 km strip of land sandwiched between the Pacific and the Andes. Its natural topography includes glacial wilderness and moonscapes, lakes and volcanoes, beaches and salt flats, and the burnt colors driest desert in the world. From salty-desert top to glacier-crowded bottom, Chile is a great reminder of nature`s beauty and strength. Travelers are attracted to this narrow stream of a country because of its spectacular Pacific coastline, the Andes mountain range and fabulous wine lands, and it is jammed with enough challenging geological wonders to keep the adventurous enthralled for a lifetime.

Chile is understandably growing in popularity. If time is limited flying is important to explore all her beauties. All flights come into and through Santiago. With its foundations in the 16th century, here is a modern metropolis, surrounded by vineyards and the Andes in the background. To the south is Patagonia, flying to Puerto Montt Lake District, and Punta Arenas, abundant wildlife and glaciers. Calama is the gateway to northern Chile and the Atacama Desert. All three cities to allow passage into neighboring Argentina, with Calama also provide access to Bolivia.

We had a great two weeks, with excellent support and organisation so soon (1 week) after the tragic earthquake last year. Would highly recommend.

We had a truly memorable trip to Chile during a very tense time for the country in March 2010 following the earthquake in Southern Chile. Travel Due South and all those concerned were very dliligant to ensure our safety throughout our trip. The consultant in Santiago was exceptionally good with our safety and ensuring our stay was a most pleasurable one. We saw vineyards; the Atacama Desert and finally onto Valpariso, though here we did feel our general safety was minimised when the hotel unbolted the door for our arrival and bolted afterwards, and explained on the map which areas we should go to and not go to after dark! This was certainly a little unnerving. The entire travel experience with Travel Due South was one that we would recommend, and should the occasion arise again we would certainly use it ! Thank you.

We enjoyed Chile very much.
We visited Santiago de Chile and Torres del Paine National Park.
We were very surprised about this park.It was beautiful.
Chile seems a much more organized country than Argentina but we found argentinian people more friendy.
The food and the wine were really good.
If you want to enjoy a good steak and good wine, these two countries will do the trick!!
